Statement from Orchard.Church

August 31, 2026

Orchard.Church is located next to Prairie View High School in Brighton, CO, where students are allowed to walk through the church’s property during the school’s open lunch period each day.

Over the years, Orchard has received numerous requests from vendors asking to set up on church property and sell to students. Some have even offered to rent space or give the church a portion of their profits in exchange for permission to sell. Orchard has consistently declined those offers.

At the school's request, and for safety and liability reasons, Orchard has a longstanding no-vendor policy during school hours on church property. This policy has been consistently applied to everyone, including members of Orchard.Church who have asked for permission to sell on the church’s property.

Last week, a vendor set up on church property without permission. On multiple occasions, Orchard’s staff kindly asked the vendor to move off church property, consistent with the same policy applied to other vendors.

At no point did Orchard’s staff ask the vendor to leave a public sidewalk. After leaving church property, they continued selling across the street. The photo used in the original social media post shows the vendor across the street—not at the location on church property where church staff had asked them to move.

Unfortunately, some of the claims being shared on social media do not accurately represent what occurred. The church’s decision was not personal, nor was it about this particular vendor, what was being sold, or financial competition. Again, Orchard has declined opportunities to financially benefit from vendors in the past in keeping with its policy.

Orchard has occasionally hosted church-sponsored community events outside of school hours where approved vendors are invited to participate. This vendor, like other local vendors, would be welcome to apply to participate in future community events.

Orchard.Church loves its community and the students and families of Prairie View High School. Orchard genuinely wishes this vendor well along with the success of their business. That said, Orchard reserves the right to responsibly manage church property in a manner consistent with public safety and its policies.

Orchard appreciates the community’s understanding and respect in this decision.
